Old-Time Music Performances Scheduled in
Great Smoky Mountains National Park

Great Smoky Mountains National Park announces several free, old-time music performances featuring the musical group “Boogertown Gap” at the Sugarlands Visitor Center and Cosby Campground.

On Sunday, September 30, and again on Sunday, October 14, at 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. each day, Boogertown Gap will perform in the Sugarlands Visitor Center Theater. Between the formal theater performances, the band will autograph copies of their new CD which is available for sale in the visitor center’s bookstore. The group will also play outside the visitor center throughout the day.

On Saturday, October 13, from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Boogertown Gap will also perform at the Cosby Campground amphitheater. The Boogertown Gap band specializes in music of the southern mountains, and recently released a new CD entitled “Boogertown Gap: Old-Time Appalachian Music.” The band is composed of Ruth Barber, Keith Watson, and Austin Stovall, and they play a variety of stringed instruments. The band has played in numerous venues around the East Tennessee and western North Carolina region, with the goal of preserving the old-time music of the mountains. Listen to Cripple Creek.
